How Can I Be a Christian?

In just a few simple steps anyone can become a Christian. It’s not hard at all. It’s free and it doesn’t require permission from anyone. Nobody can stop you from becoming a Christian.

1) First, we have to realize that everyone has sinned. In fact, the Bible says that, “all have sinned.” Romans 3:23

2) Next, we learn from the Bible that the “wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23

In other words we all deserve to die because of our sins. Life would be pretty dismal if we stopped here. But, there’s good news!

3) The good news is that Jesus came to earth and lived a sinless life and then died in our place.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever would believe in Him will have eternal life.”

5) Once we have accepted Jesus into our life, He wants us to turn away from our sins and be born again.

John 3:3 says, “Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth unless one is born again, he cannot be in God’s kingdom.’”

4) Now all we have to do is choose to accept this gift and ask Jesus to come into our life.

“Choose you this day whom you will serve.”

Joshua 24:15

6) To be born again means that we must turn away from our sins and focus on living like Jesus did.

We need to confess our sins to God or in other words tell tell Him we are sorry for what we’ve done wrong. When we do this He is happy to forgive us.

“If we confess our sins,  He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and   to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I John 1:9

7) When we repent, Jesus would like us to be baptized to show everyone our commitment to follow Him. Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River as an example for us.

“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins...” Acts 2:38

8) Now we continue to live the Christian life by choosing to follow God every day. To do this we need to talk to Him often. We need to surrender our lives and will to Him. And we need to read His letter to us, the Bible.

It is a process, but if we do these things, we will see dramatic changes in our lives. We will start disliking the wrong things we do and start wanting to do things that are good.

We will become more loving and  softhearted. Being delivered from the devil into the loving arms of Jesus will change our life in many “good” ways. We will experience peace and joy.
